MeRry ChRisTmaS!!!!

Merry Christmas from Adam, Brittany, and our happy little Elf!
(I know, I know, I look like a bad momma letting my baby cry just so I can get a picture, but not to worry, I picked up and cuddled her as soon as I got this picture, she didn't cry for too long!)

Growing so Fast

These are some recent pictures of Kadence, I can't believe how fast she's growing! I don't notice it as much until we see someone and they say she looks huge, then I'm like, yeah, she does look big! When she first wakes up in the morning, she is so bright eyed, she just takes everything in. I got my first real smile a couple of days ago. I was changing her diaper and singing the ABC's to her (Ben and Alexis said they heard that if you sing the ABC's to your baby when changing their diaper, they should know them by the time they are 1.) She was staring at me, and all of the sudden she got this huge open mouth smile, her eyes lit up and everything! Oh, I was so excited! I woke Adam up out of his deep sleep to brag.

My sister Alexis, well sister-in-law, (she's really like my sister) took these pictures of Kadence the other night. She is such a good photographer, she has an eye for it! I thought they turned out pretty cute, they show her big eyes, and BiG cheeks, love how they kind of rest on her chest!

I will ONLY sleep in mom and dad's bed!

So Adam and I had the BEST of intentions when it came to Kadence's sleeping habits...unfortunately it hasn't turned out as planned. When Kadence first came home, she slept like an angel in her crib in her room for about two weeks. We had the little monitor set up, and everything was great! Then after learning that our little one likes to spit up pretty much everything she eats, we became paranoid about her choking, and worried about not being able to get to her in time. So into our room she came, but still in her own bassinet to the side of our bed. This went wonderfully for about two weeks. About 3 days ago, she started grunting and wiggling ALL night long, not sleeping much at all. So in an act of desperation, we let her sleep in our bed. I don't know how she knows the difference between her bassinet and our bed, but she does! She slept all night long last night with us, waking only one to eat. All three of us woke up this morning feeling rested and refreshed, but I am so frustrated because I feel like a failure! What is more important, our baby getting adequate rest, or being adamant that she sleep in her bassinet, even if she doesn't actually sleep??? HELP!
This is Kadence this morning, sound asleep. Don't mind the huge spit up spot above her head, I just scooted her down out of it. I guess I'll be changing our sheets daily now.

Finally Feeling like Christmas!

It's finally starting to feel like Christmas time around our house, and here's why...
1- It snowed!...You can't have Christmas without snow. It does make for scary driving conditions, especially when my husband drives a lot for his job (he's in Park City today), but I think it's necessary in order to feel like Christmas.
2- I have our Christmas decorations up, and most of the presents wrapped and under the tree. It's so much nicer to have them looking pretty under the tree, and not keeping me awake at night in a plastic bag under our bed!
3- I dropped off our Christmas card/Kadence's birth announcement in the mail box last night, so you should be getting them soon!
4- I've been to two Christmas parties in the last week, and have three more coming. It's so fun to be with friends and family around this time of year.
Ahhh...now that most everything is done, I'm going to relax, make a cup of hot chocolate, enjoy my husband and baby girl, and maybe watch Elf a couple more times. I hope you all do the same and have a MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Miss Kadence's first Photo Shoot...

Kadence got her new born pictures taken by Sharstin Miller last week, they turned out to be so precious! Sharstin is amazing, she takes such great pictures! I want to thank her for putting up with us, Kadence went pee pee twice on some of her cute blankies, pooped once, and had to take a time out for a little snack! I felt so bad, but she said it happens all the time. What can you do when you have a naked 2 week old, right? She was awake for most of the pictures, which I love. I have Sharstin's Photography blog on my side bar under Friendly Bloggers, www.sharstinmillerphotography.blogspot.com, check it out, she put a sample post of some of Kadence's pictures. If anyone is in the market for a good photographer, hit her up, she's so fun! Thanks again Sharstin!!!!

2 Weeks Old

Kadence had her 2 week well baby checkup last week, so she's really 3 weeks old now. I can't believe she's almost been here for a month now! Her pediatrician said she looks perfectly healthy, wahoo! She is 21 inches- 90% and 8 lbs.- 50%...So she's long and skinny, lucky girl! She is doing so well, sleeping for 4 hours between night feedings, which means momma is doing well also! She's such a sweet baby, doesn't cry much unless she's trying to poop or if she's hungry. We are so thankful that our baby girl is happy and healthy, we love her so much! I am getting a bit of cabin fever...our pediatrician told us not to take Kadence out much. Not to the grocery store, mall, etc... That makes it pretty hard to get Christmas shopping done! I'm going to have to give online shopping a try this year! Here are some pictures of her 2nd week, doesn't she look like she's growing?!
I love when she raises her eyebrows and her forehead gets all wrinkled up.
Kadence is very vocal, she growls and whimpers like a little puppy, it's so funny!

Adam is such a softy! Kadence usually sleeps in her crib, but her daddy thought that she wanted to hang out with her mom and dad on this particular night, they looked so comfy though, i couldn't say no! Notice her p.j.'s say, "Daddy Said I Can."

Kadence's cousin Avery loves her so much, she's so sweet with her! She touches her, and wants to give her kisses.
Kadence's first Thanksgiving, she slept through most of it!

She loves her bath time, except when it's time to get out, so cold!!!

We take lots of naps!

I Do Have EYES!

These are just a few pictures to prove that Kadence does in fact, have eyes! Just about every picture I've posted so far has been of her sleeping...that's what she does best =)

Daddy's Girl

As you can see, Kadence is already a daddy's girl! He has a way of calming her down when she's upset, and he can always get her back to sleep after a diaper change in the middle of the night. Kadence is so lucky to have a dad like Adam to love her. Seeing these two together makes me love Adam more than I thought possible...love you babe.

Kadence is HERE!

Our little Kadence was born Monday, November 10, 2008 at 12:16 a.m. She weighed 6 lbs. 13 oz. and is 19 inches long. She is the SWEETEST thing! We are so lucky that the labor went very smoothly, and she is healthy. We absolutely love her, I can't believe she is so perfect! She is nursing like an old pro, and we get so excited every time she has a wet or poopy diaper!

We had a little scare with her because she lost 10 oz. in the first 48 hours and her Jaundice levels were high, but she has gained 5 1/2 oz. back and the nurse told us today that her Jaundice levels had dropped, yay!!!

Adam is such a good dad, I'm not surprised! He jumped right in, and I've had to ask him how to swaddle her correctly and how to change her diaper. The feeling of love we have for this little one is overwhelming...I just want to cry every time I look at her! Most people say that she looks like her daddy, I agree, especially her mouth. She is such a good little baby, and only cries when she's hungry, or has to poop. I am feeling really great, and have a lot of energy considering the amount of sleep I've gotten.

Thanks for everyone's support, we loved all the text messages and visitors! You know you can expect many more pictures and updates...when I can find the time to sit down and blog about it

This is the first diaper Adam has put on, right after she was born, check out that cone head!
Uncle Scott came in the middle of the night to meet his new niece, such a sweet uncle!
Kadence LoVeS to have her hands by her face, this is how she was in most of her ultrasound pictures.

Pucker up!

So SLEEPY!

Patiently Waiting...

So... We had our 37 week appointment on Thursday. Our Dr. started out with an ultrasound and said Kadence is 7 lbs, and looks great. He said if I haven't had her by the 17th he will induce my labor, wahoo, that's in only 9 days! But wait, it gets better, when he checked me, he said I was now dilated to a 3 and 75% thinned out. He said he would be shocked to see us at our next appointment in a week. He thinks I will have her on my own sometime before next Thursday... I hope so!! So now I've been trying EVERYTHING I can to get things rolling, long walks, cleaning like crazy, eating spicy food, etc... I would love if I could start on my own. I just want that whole experience of either my water breaking, or having to time contractions, and then Adam frantically driving to the hospital, it just sounds fun and exciting! I know some of you moms that have been through this are thinking that I'm crazy, and it's really not so fun, but I just want to experience it at least once! Anyway, my Dr. said that the weather could also work to our advantage. There's a storm coming in on Monday and Tuesday, and the low pressure is known to start labor...cross your fingers for us!

HaLLoWeeN

Adam's sister Alexis had us over for some Halloween fun! Her kids are ADORABLE! Brogan was a duck hunter, which he loved...he was just like his daddy and uncle Adam. Little Avery was a Green Head Mallard, so cute! My mother-in-law made their costumes, she's incredible, to say the least!
Ben and Alexis took the kids out to Ogden Bay for some pictures, where actual duck hunting takes place...I'm sure Brogan was in heaven! (I don't think Avery was too happy that they sat her in the weeds.)

Doesn't Avery look so cute?!...Love the little white bum!

Brogan's costume was complete with a rifle and shells, ducks hanging from his neck, rubber boots, and a couple duck calls, and you better believe he knows how to call the ducks in!

Avery, flying in for her landing.
Ben and Alexis were a deer and deer hunter.

Adam and I were pretty lame this year. I tried to make a pumpkin shirt to wear on my belly, but apparently glitter glue takes like 48 hours to dry, so the couple of hours I gave it didn't do the trick! Luckily, Alexis had backup... so a pregnant angel with the devil we were =) Thanks for the fun time guys, we love you!

Baby Kadence update...

We had our 36 week appointment on Tuesday. The Dr. said she weighs about 6.5 lbs and her head measured at 37 weeks, so she's going to be really smart ;) He said I am 75% thinned out and dilated to a 2! He said she is low in my pelvis and he could feel her little, well, apparently BiG head! We were so excited to hear that we're making progress! He said that if he had to guess, Kadence would come at least a week early, but that he would know a little more after he checks me next week. I know that some people have been dilated to a 2 for up to a month, so we're not going to get our hopes up, but we would LOVE her to come a bit early. It would be so nice to have her here for Thanksgiving so we can show her off to family! We have another appointment next Thursday, so you know I'll be updating you again after that!

We also found out on Tuesday that my brother Jared and his wife Ashley are going to be having a girl! We're so excited for them! Now Kadence will have two little girl cousins close to her age to play with! Oh, can't wait for dance classes and all that girly stuff!

We didn't get a picture at our last ultrasound, so I thought I'd throw this in for your reading pleasure...enjoy =)

Your pregnancy: 36 weeks
See the big picture
How your baby's growing:Your baby is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. She now weighs almost 6 pounds (like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. She's shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered her body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected her skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. Your baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of her first bowel movement. At the end of this week, your baby will be considered full-term. (Full-term is 37 to 42 weeks; babies born before 37 weeks are pre-term and those born after 42 are post-term.) Most likely she's in a head-down position. But if she isn't, your practitioner may suggest scheduling an "external cephalic version," which is a fancy way of saying she'll try to coax your baby into a head-down position by manipulating her from the outside of your belly.

Happy Birthday DAD!

We went over to my dad and Susan's Sunday to celebrate his birthday. Susan made a YUMMY dinner for all of us. It was so good to see everyone! Susan's daughter Kallie and her family were there with the brand new baby Gage. I haven't seen him since he was born...and he still looks so tiny! I held him a lot, and got to feed him a bottle. I will say that I'm going to need some practice when it comes to burping the baby, I couldn't do it right! I guess I was being too gentle to get the job done. Well we hope you had a happy birthday dad, we love you!!!
